Communication and What Should we Communicate

Sometimes meeting with professors and lecturers from other universities makes me thinking… What I should tell them… ok… this is what I usually came out with… I’m still new (in fact, just two months in the university) and still a lot to learn and a lot to understand…

Ok… that’s the “icebreaking” part, so hopefully that could give them the level and what my experiences are… is it ok? hopefully, it is…
Then, came the question of what I’m gonna talk next? hmmm…. maybe something about university?

Ok… Universiti Malaysia Kelantan is still young…. two years… (it is “VERY YOUNG”) and we still work in temporary campus… the shophouses… in fact there was one day when there’s a cartoon in local newspaper talking about shophouses university (Universiti Rumah Kedai)… at first it was misunderstood as a critic to our university… (in fact it was a critic to other university, not our university as we are not that “popular” yet).

Hopefully, that will explain where I came from and what I represent… ok a young academician from a young university… It’s true, is it?

What’s next? maybe the faculty that I am in…

Ok… Faculty of Creative Technology and Heritage. Do you get the picture of what the area of our interests are? Three things… Creative, Technology and Heritage. Creative represent the quality or power of creating or a result from originality of thought, expression, etc. Technology represent the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as industrial arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science. Heritage represent something that is passed down from preceding generations; a tradition. Therefore, it can be combined as a creation and application of technology in a creative process to appreciate and sustain heritage. At least, that are the terms that I understood and belief my faculty is all about. It is a big dream, a journey through the timeline; past, present and future. What can we learn from the past, what we can applied now and what we hope the result in the future would be. A big dreams for a small (for now) faculty (thus, a young university).

So, enough about faculty for now…

Hmmm… when I look back at what I have here, it is quite a lot that I have to talk about…

But what about communication? Do I have enough skill in communicating my points and make people understand? Do I have enough experiences to share? Do I have enough information in communicating what I have understand? Do I have the capacity and authority to talk more about “everything”?

There’s a lot to ponder…

Somehow, I think what I need is time… but I want to move faster. I want to see whether the result is what I expected. Sometimes I feel that I am running out of time. I want to know what I can do… I want to feel how the “true” academician feel… I want to know more about my interest… I want to learn… I want to see the world… I want to create or design something… I want to discover something… I want to share my experience… I want to know “everything” that i should know… I want to talk to other people that have same interest as me…

BUT….

BUT…

There’s something that holding me back…
There’s something that try to push me aside…
There always be some feeling that I don’t have to do what I wanted to do…
There always something that I feel inside that stop me from my actions…

perhaps… the fear…
perhaps… the responsibilities…
perhaps… the shyness…
perhaps… the experience…
perhaps… the knowledge…
perhaps… the exposure…
perhaps… the influences…
perhaps… it is a part of still “YOUNG”…

Hopefully, it is a part of being a “YOUNG” academician… because there’s still a lot of time ahead… insyaAllah

“Sustainable design should aim to make a cultural contribution, which entails combining a scientific understanding of environment principles with a sense of how vernacular buildings made comfortable living conditions before mechanical services.”

Between Heritage and Sustainable…

Heritage? Sustainable?… What is the link between the two?… I know there is something interesting between these two things. But what is it? why these two? how these two could improvised each other?

This is my new blog entry after two months being busy with job searching. At least, being in Malaysia and being with some people in the construction industry I realize that there are still a lot of things that I do not know. And I should prepare properly if I want to be involved heavily in the industry.

I know, being a tutor, you would not be involved directly in the construction industry. I have to guide people and share my knowledge. But if I don’t have the knowledge, how can I share anything?… hmm…

Yup, I have some knowledge in environmental science, building construction, graphic design, and some history of architecture but still there are things that I don’t know.

Hopefully, I could pull myself together and use my existing knowledge from four years of study into my new career…

… and I need to learn more…

This is part 2 of my experiment with CSS to create interesting type.

this time it is just a simple type to highlight any interesting quotation from any source.

It is only when you truly don’t care what people think that you truly don’t need to care what people think.

Running a validation ensure your website follow the standard and would displayed properly in major browsers.

However, when running the validation for my new blog layout it seems that there’s a lot of error. Actually, I don’t have enough time to repair the codes for now but i notice there are some problems involving the flash player and css for the nextgen gallery that I use to manage all the image file in my blog.

Note that, the xhtml code and css of my blog is not valid. But the main page is valid.
